JOSEPH P. RUSSO, MD

Dr. Joseph Russo is a board-certified radiologist fellowship-trained in Breast Imaging. He joined St. Luke’s University Health Network in 2004, where he proudly served as Section Chief for Mammography from 2005 to 2020. Throughout his tenure, Dr. Russo’s focus remained steadfast: ensuring convenient access to annual screening mammograms and providing compassionate, high-quality care for patients navigating the stress of callbacks or biopsies.

At St. Luke’s, a designated GE Healthcare National Show Site, Dr. Russo gained extensive experience in advanced imaging technologies including 3D and contrast-enhanced mammography, automated breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and a wide range of biopsy techniques. His special interests include the development of breast centers and the creation of personalized screening algorithms based on individual risk and breast density.

Dr. Russo’s dedication to breast imaging is deeply personal.

“In the 1980s, when breast cancer awareness and mammography were still developing, a close family member lost her battle. Decades later, another family member benefited from modern imaging, allowing for early detection and complete removal of a small cancer. These experiences inspire me every day to promote the lifesaving power of breast imaging.”

Today, in his role at Redan Imaging Consultants, Dr. Russo continues his mission by contributing to breast center development, lecturing, and serving as an ambassador for innovative imaging technologies. He also continues clinical practice as a concierge breast imaging physician, providing personalized, expert care to his patients.
